Doug Sobel is a published photographer, Leather artist, Quilter and Long Arm Quilt artist.
His journey in quilting started with “apprenticing” under his wife, Tova Sobel, over 25 years ago, helping her make quilting sandwiches, occasionally ripping out seams and helping with picking out fabrics. Over 7 years ago he started working on his own quilting, piecing tops and long arm quilting after the purchase of a Long Arm quilt machine. He continues to develop his free motion quilting skills which has garnered several ribbons.
In 2016, he met Cathy Wiggins who was the featured artist at Road to California. Her quilted leather art was a revelation as he saw how he could combine his love of quilting with his love of leather work. He now wants to teach other quilters the joy of quilting on leather.
