Dora Cary is an engineer and graphic designer from Romania, a beautiful country situated in Eastern Europe. Her mother and grandmothers taught her to sew, knit, embroider, crochet, and weave from a very early age. Known for her geometric quilts, modern esthetic, and fresh take on traditional patterns, she demonstrates how to simplify construction of complicated quilts. This lecture will cover her unusual path from growing up in Communist Romania to having a successful quilting business in the country of her dreams. Her quilts have been displayed in many quilt shows such as QuiltCon; QuiltFest Oasis in Palm Springs; Seven Sisters; and Pacific International Quilt Festival. During her lectures she shares her quilts, her favorite quilting techniques and tools, as well as her no-basting method of quilting on a domestic sewing machine.
